Diamondium will never wear down. The material decomposes just shy of 5,000° F, which is notably higher than anything else currently used in nail materials. It is also virtually immune to all chemical reactions, and the conditions which would alter it are extremely past what we can reasonably research. Only a diamond is even able to scratch this material.
We have not found the specific limit for thermal shock or impact, but again, it should survive any normal conditions. Shock in particular needs a dash more long term study to confirm, but going from butane flame directly to water is so far causing no defects.
It is extremely nonstick- that, plus the thermal resistance make it very easy to clean. The nonstick aspect additionally helps it glide through oil easily while in motion, and allow pressure from newly formed gasses to displace the liquid oil. On a microscopic level, the material promotes rapid escape of gases.
Diamondium is also one of the most expensive materials available. We are looking at $100,000-$140,000 per kilogram material costs. For the few finished products we can find in the world made from it, the costs are mind boggling. This project is about doing it to make the best items regardless of price.
